1. Family.

This park became a family-favorite during Alexa’s childhood.

My family is the most important aspect of my life, and I could never live without them. They are my greatest supporters and the people who make me the happiest. I am always trying to find ways to spend time with them. Most time spent with them is filled with laughter- we are always joking around and making fun of each other. They also support and comfort me in times of need. They have always encouraged my passion for art. I thank them for every coloring book, sketchbook, box of crayons, paint, and more they bought for me to encourage my art. Without their constant support and encouragement, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

2. Art.

Art has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I would go around the house finding objects to draw. Sometimes, I would create funny and weird characters to go with stories I made up. As I got older, I constantly found new ways to express my creativity. I found creativity in creating fashion designs, nail art, DIY projects, and so much more. Today, I am still finding new ways to express my creativity. Through my explorations, I found a passion for three-dimensional art, pottery and cardboard sculpture being my favorite. Recently, I took on crocheting as a hobby and am looking into embroidery. I look at art as therapy and a way to express myself as well.

3. Music.

Music has always been a part of my life. Growing up, music could always be heard around the house. You could hear 70’s rock playing in one part of the house and emo or pop music playing in others. Music has always been important to us and, like art, is therapy for me. I use it to stay motivated on assignments, to comfort me when I am feeling anxious, and to cheer me up when I am feeling down. Music is also a way to help me know that I am not alone in all the feelings and struggles of my life. I not only love music, but I appreciate what it does for me.

4. Movies.

Alexa’s favorite movie theater

Movies, like music, have always been a big part of my life. I remember the box of VHS tapes of movies like Cinderella or shows like Baby Looney Tunes. Growing up, my family frequently visited movie theatres as much as we could. Comedy, action, thriller, musicals- we would watch anything that interested us. My family keeps an ever-growing collection of movies, mostly thanks to my older sister, the greatest contributor to this collection. Movies are also therapy to me. I am also always trying to find new movies to watch, any genre, really. One day, I will binge-watch romantic comedies, and another day, I will binge-watch thrillers.

5. Bags.

My bags are essential to my everyday life. Outside of school, you will most likely never see me without a bag on me. They not only hold my everyday essentials but are a way to express myself. Through my bags, I feel like people can get a sense of my personality and what interests me. My coworkers now even tell me or show me bags they know I would like or that interest me; it’s actually funny. I have a growing collection of bags. I’ve got plain bags and colorful and fun bags. My current favorites in my collection are my Kate Space Alice in Wonderland bag and my Valentine’s Day-themed bag.
