An EPIC Discussion: Championing Equity & Elevating Women in Sports to Feature Trailblazers

EPIC for Girls will host "An EPIC Discussion: Championing Equity and Elevating Women in Sports," an inspiring event dedicated to promoting equity in sports for girls of color on Sept. 20. The dynamic panel features prominent leaders from the sports and nonprofit sectors.

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Tragil Wade: CEO and Founder of America’s Big Sisters, an organization providing support for youth to overcome difficult circumstances. As the Executive Director of Wade’s World Foundation, she has raised over $3.4 million and received numerous awards.

  • Markesha Grant: Founder and CEO of Savvy Skills, LLC, dedicated to transforming athletes' mindsets through progressive and transformative action. She is a Creative Development Coach, Motivational Speaker, and National Girl's Basketball Evaluator.

  • Raven Johnson: Member of the undefeated University of South Carolina Gamecocks Women’s Basketball Team and 2024 NCAA Champions. She has procured a groundbreaking NIL partnership with Black-owned beauty brand Parfait.

"Sports have the power to transform lives, but inequities persist that prevent many girls of color from accessing these benefits,” said Kimberly Thomas, Chief Executive Officer at EPIC for Girls. “‘An EPIC Discussion’ is our commitment to change that narrative. We are thrilled to bring together such influential voices to champion this cause.”

EPIC for Girls is committed to researching, advocating for, and funding innovative solutions that address inequities in sports for girls of color. Our mission is to create a more equitable sports landscape, ensuring every girl, regardless of race or background, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
