We are excited to announce our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands to support their crucial "60 Men in 60 Days" campaign. This campaign is an urgent call to action to recruit 60 male mentors by October 31 to help fill the growing need for Big Brothers in the metro area.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands serves approximately 650 youth across nine counties in Nebraska and Iowa, including Douglas, Sarpy, Cass, Washington, Saunders, Lancaster, Seward, Mills and Pottawattamie. The organization's community-based mentoring program connects youth aged 7 to 14 with adult mentors (or volunteers) to support their emotional and social development. If a youth is in foster care, they can be added to the waitlist until age 15, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands continues to support matched youth up to age 21.

Currently, more than 70% of young people waiting for mentors are boys, with some waiting over a year and a half to be matched. Through this campaign, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands aims to bridge this gap and create life-changing connections for young boys who are in dire need of positive male role models.

The commitment is simple: meet with your Little at least twice a month, for a minimum of four hours and at least 12 months.

“The time spent together — whether it’s taking a walk, going to a museum, or simply talking — helps build life-changing relationships,” explained Emma Beebe, the Marketing and Outreach Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands.

“We have 66 Littles waiting for a mentor,” Beebe said. “We’re seeking mentors who can be patient, empathetic, a good listener, reliable, open-minded, encouraging, adaptable, honest, and respectful.”

Volunteering as a mentor also offers significant benefits for the Big Brothers, including a sense of fulfillment, leadership development, networking opportunities and personal growth. By giving back to the community, volunteers play a key role in building a healthier, more connected society.

We at Lozafina are proud to lend our marketing expertise to amplify BBBSM’s message and support their efforts in finding these mentors. If you’re ready to make a difference, visit MentorOmaha.org to apply and be part of a movement that can change lives.
