Are you ready to join a powerful movement of women who are changing the world?

If so, mark your calendar for the Global Women's Forum on Saturday, March 4, where you'll have the opportunity to celebrate and empower women as they pursue advancement in their personal and professional lives.

The forum is free and will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Garden Theater, 3125 Oak View Drive, in Omaha, and is a program of the Global Leadership Africa Summit.

You won't want to miss the panels and workshops that provide insights on topics such as entrepreneurship, leadership, health, rights, and equality.

“We believe that when women and girls succeed, it creates a more positive impact in our communities,” said Marco Kpeglo LeRoc, the event organizer. “The forum aims to celebrate and empowers women and girls to advance personally and professionally. Our focus is to empower minority women and girls.”

Local and national speakers will share powerful stories about women who have overcome challenges to achieve their dreams.

The keynote speaker, Juliet Ibrahim, is a Ghanaian entrepreneur, author, multiple-award-winning actress, speaker, and humanitarian. She won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards for her role in “4 Play”.

“Being raised in different countries as a refugee I have experienced so many challenges that women face globally,” said Ibrahim. “I am inviting you to enjoy me and so many other great women as we celebrate women and at the same time empower so many younger women to thrive personally and professionally.”

Other speakers and panelists include executives, educators, and advocates who are leaders in their fields. A few of them include:

Shonna Dorsey - executive director, Nebraska Tech Collaborative

Jacqelle B. Lane, M.Ed.- author, educator, and Vice President of DEI at the Omaha Children’s Museum.

Kellee Mikuls - founder, Swishboom

Dannette R. Smith - CEO, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services

Aileen Warren - president and CEO, ICAN

In addition to the panels, the Global Women's Forum will offer exhibitions from local businesses, vendors, and female entrepreneurs.
