Living by the Five: South High Packer Reveals Her Top Five Vital Essentials!
MY FIVE: A series where we ask Omahans to share their five favorite things
By: Xitlally Velasco
Fifteen-year-old Kiara Velasco is a vivacious sophomore at Omaha South High School who loves creating art, Starbucks runs with her bestie, and finding hidden gems at thrift shops.
Kiara is never afraid to try. From visiting a new restaurant or recreating a recipe from TikTok to driving a motorcycle in the streets of Mexico, Kiara feeds off the adrenaline of every life event. She likes to keep her mom on her toes and remind her that “I’m not going to live forever.”
Her love for art has inspired her to partake in designing acrylic nails, painting old skateboards, filling up sketch pads with doodles and portraits, mastering make-up techniques, and decorating her room to become her safe haven. She turns her visions into reality with the reminder that failing is just another opportunity to try again differently.
As a middle child residing in a loud and lively household with her family of six (seven with her cat), Kiara finds comfort in several items to keep her afloat.
Presenting…Kiara’s top five obsessions:
1. My Room.
2. Strawberries.
3. My Phone.
4. Music.
5. Netflix.
