If you’ve ever wondered how some of the most notable U.S. presidents handled extreme tragedy and adversity, look no further than the Community Alliance’s special guest, author Doris Kearns Goodwin.
Goodwin has written six critically acclaimed books. Her book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln” was the inspiration behind Steven Speilberg’s film “Lincoln,” which earned 12 Academy Award nominations. It was awarded the Lincoln Prize and the inaugural Book Prize for American History. Her book “No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II” also won a Pulitzer Prize in history.
On October 5 she will discuss the personal struggles of some of the most notable president’s experiences and how it affected their leadership.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and beverages with the discussion taking place at 7 p.m.
