Science Café: The Science of landfills

  • The Slowdown 729 North 14th Street Omaha, NE, 68102 United States (map)

Chances are you’ve never said to yourself “I wonder how landfills are designed to protect me?” But, modern landfills do just that.

Join Katie Kinley, a civil and environmental engineer, at the next Science Cafe to learn about how modern design protects groundwater, surface water, and clean air.

Kinley has spent the past nine years in landfill design, permits, and construction. She is a licensed professional engineer in Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan, and Kansas.  Her experience includes landfill gas management, the design of landfill liners, and the management of water that has leached out.

Science Cafe’s, sponsored by UNMC, are free and open to the public.
