The American Italian Heritage Society Celebrates 40 Years of La Festa Italiana

By Xitlally Velasco

The American Italian Heritage Society will host their 40th annual ‘La Festa Italiana,’ a beloved celebration of Italian culture and community in Omaha. This year’s festival, taking place over Labor Day weekend—August 30, 31, and September 1st—promises to be a memorable event, rain or shine.

The AIHS, founded in 1980, is a non-profit organization with over 1,000 members. Its fundamental goal is to encourage children to learn about their ethnic heritage as much as their parents do. The AIHS also aims to preserve its traditions through a cultural museum and library.

La Festa Italiana is a longstanding tradition that the AIHS has proudly hosted for four decades. Held at Il Palazzo on 132nd and Fort St., the festival offers attendees the chance to experience Italy's rich flavors and vibrant spirit. Guests can indulge in authentic Italian food, enjoy fine wines, and sip on cold beers while enjoying the festive atmosphere. Live music entertainment, children's activities, food booths, and a fireworks show are just a few showcases visitors can expect at La Festa Italiana.

Attendees are encouraged to follow the event on Facebook @FestaOmaha for more information and updates. Those with questions can contact the American Italian Heritage Society office at (402) 493-8888
