A Recap of the Global Women’s Forum

Story by Xitlally Velasco

The Global Women’s Forum returned for a third time to The Garden Theater last Saturday, led by Marco LeRoc. This one-day event empowered women with inspiring stories, expert insights, and guidance on leadership, entrepreneurship, tech, health, and economic growth.

Miss USA Deshauna Barber, the forum’s keynote speaker, gave a powerful message to attendees, drawing from her own journey of grit and resilience. Guests left with a reminder that every setback is a setup for a comeback, so rise, try again, and never stop until you turn your struggles into strength.

Other speakers spoke on panels surrounding topics of health and wellness, entrepreneurship and business development, and leadership.

The Global Women’s Forum also had its first youngest and high school student to speak. Alejandra Wells, the 16-year-old founder and CEO of Hiya, took the stage during the health and wellness panel alongside other influential speakers.

Wells, a Burke High student dedicated to advocating for teen mental health awareness, shared her personal journey to developing Hiya and her insights on the importance of mental health in young adults. Wells will be traveling to Montreal, Canada, this summer to take part in the International Children's Advisory Network (iCAN) summit. Last summer, she went to Bari, Italy, to present her Hiya’s research.

Several vendors also caught the eye of the guests. Businesses of all areas displayed their products, such as traditional African clothing and accessories, dog treats, self-defense keychains, anime decor, and more.

The success of the Global Women’s Forum would not have been possible without the incredible speakers, attendees, and vendors who brought their energy, knowledge, and passion to the event.

A heartfelt thank you to its sponsors, Lozafina, OPPD, Cordia, Ekeh Law Office, Edge Magazine, and Humble Lion Consulting, whose generous support helped create a safe space for empowerment and growth.

Until next time, let’s keep pushing boundaries and lifting each other higher!
