Access Period Hosts ‘Periodical’ at Film Streams
Access Period is thrilled to announce the hosting of two showings of the groundbreaking documentary "Periodical" at Film Streams in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 6. This new documentary, produced by XTR and MSNBC Films, delves into the marvels and mysteries of the menstrual cycle, presenting an unexpected narrative of the human body from the first period to the last.
Unlike any middle school sex-ed class, "Periodical" employs innovative mixed media storytelling, making it an engaging watch for everyone eager to learn more about the menstrual cycle, especially those who may know little about it.
"Periodical" promises a compelling exploration of a natural bodily function that is often shrouded in mystery and stigma. By combining science, history, and personal stories, the documentary sheds light on the intricacies of the menstrual cycle, aiming to normalize and celebrate it as a vital aspect of human health and experience.
In lieu of traditional ticket fees, Access Period suggests attendees bring donations of menstrual products or make a monetary contribution to support the organization’s mission. This initiative not only raises awareness but also directly aids those in need, ensuring that everyone has access to necessary menstrual products.
Please note that while the documentary promotes healthy and normal discussions about periods for all ages, it does contain occasional use of four-letter words, which may not be suitable for all audiences.
Doors will open at 2:30 p.m., with showtimes scheduled for 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tickets for this enlightening event can be obtained here.
