BIPOC-Led SkateFest Omaha

ON OUR BLOCK: A running feature of inspiring events, people and stories.

By Tiffany Brazda

Consider checking out SkateFest on Sunday, July 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Roberts Skatepark at 730 N. 78th St.

The event features skateboarding competitions, art, music and food. If you aren’t familiar, SkateFest Omaha is a BIPOC-led nonprofit that supports the inner-city skateboarding community. What’s really cool about SkateFest is it extends beyond the three events the organization puts on each year. Its programming focuses on at-risk youth and exposes kids to positive role models. The summer sessions of Sk8t Skool are currently underway and take place on Saturdays through August 4.
