Cool Off This Summer: Omaha's Best Pools

Soon enough, it will be time to hit the pool!

Omaha Pools

Opening Dates: Most Omaha pools open on Monday, with a few opening on June 7. All will stay open until August 4. Roanoke and Oak Heights will offer limited hours until Labor Day, September 2.

Camelot (9270 Cady Ave.): June 7-Aug. 4, 1-5 p.m. daily. $1 for youths/seniors, $3 for adults.

Cryer (11783 Cryer Ave.): June 7-Aug. 4, 1-5 p.m. daily. $1 for youths/seniors, $3 for adults.

Deer Ridge (585 S. 126th St.): June 3-Aug. 4, 12-6 p.m. daily. $4 for youths/seniors, $5 for adults.

Elkhorn (3200 N. 208th Plaza): June 3-Aug. 4, 1-7 p.m. daily. $4 for youths/seniors, $5 for adults.

Elmwood (606 S. Happy Hollow Blvd.): June 3-Aug. 4, 1-7 p.m. daily. $4 for youths/seniors, $5 for adults.

Gallagher (2936 N. 52nd St.): June 3-Aug. 4, 12-6 p.m. daily. $4 for youths/seniors, $5 for adults.

Hanscom (3110 Ed Creighton Blvd.): June 7-Aug. 4, 12-5 p.m. daily. $1 for youths/seniors, $3 for adults.

Karen (6288 H St.): June 7-Aug. 4, 1-5 p.m. daily. $1 for youths/seniors, $3 for adults.

Miller (6275 N. 30th St.): June 3-Aug. 4, 12-5 p.m. daily. $1 for youths/seniors, $3 for adults.

Oak Heights (10205 U St.): June 3-Aug. 4, 1-7 p.m. daily. Weekends until Labor Day. $4 for youths/seniors, $5 for adults.

Roanoke (4747 N. 113th St.): June 3-Aug. 4, 1-7 p.m. Weekends until Labor Day. $4 for youths/seniors, $5 for adults.

Spring Lake (4020 Hoctor Blvd.): June 3-Aug. 4, 12-5 p.m. daily. $1 for youths/seniors, $3 for adults.

Zorinsky (3808 S. 156th St.): June 3-Aug. 4, 12-8 p.m. weekdays, 12-7 p.m. weekends. $5 for youths/seniors, $6 for adults.

Noteworthy Updates

Hitchcock Pool: Closed this year due to renovations, reopening in summer 2025.

Lee Valley Pool: Demolished in 2023, to be replaced by a spray ground.

New at Gretna YMCA

The new outdoor aquatic center at Gretna Crossing YMCA is now open. It features three slides, a lazy river, a lily pad crossing, basketball hoops, and a rock climbing wall. Open to both members and non-members, with day passes available.

Bellevue Pools

Cascio Pool (1500 Lawrence Lane): Open until 8:45 p.m. Wednesdays. $3 youths, $5 adults, $2 wading pools, free for seniors.

Dowding Pool (14th and Washington Streets): Open until 8:45 p.m. Thursdays. $3 youths, $5 adults, $2 wading pools, free for seniors.

Gilbert Pool (29th and Jackson Streets): Open until 8:45 p.m. Fridays. $3 youths, $5 adults, $2 wading pools, free for seniors.

Papillion Pools

Papio Bay Aquatic Center (815 E. Halleck St.): Open May 25-Aug. 11. $6 adults, $5 youths/seniors, free for children 2 and under.

La Vista Pools

La Vista Municipal Pool (7529 S. 85th St.): May 25-Aug. 4, daily 1-9 p.m. Aug. 10-Sept. 2, weekends only 1-6 p.m.

Gretna Pools

Gretna Crossing YMCA Outdoor Aquatic Center (12358 S. 208th Ave.): Open May 27-Sept. 2. $15 adults, $10 children for non-members.

Council Bluffs Pools

Katelman Water Park (1230 16th Ave.): $5 admission.

Pirate Cove Water Park (915 N. 21st St.): $5-$6 admission including slides.

Staying Safe

Drowning is a leading cause of death for young children. Remember to follow water safety tips: use barriers, supervise children, teach water skills, use life jackets, and learn CPR. Stay cool and have fun this summer!
