Drinks & Drips: Networking for fashionistas

by Tiffany Brazda

We don’t always need an excuse to get glamorous, but if you’re looking for one, dawn your best white outfit and step out at Drinks and Drip, a rooftop party at Blatt Beer & Table Downtown, on Saturday, July 20 from 6-10 p.m.

People love to shop for something that will stand out, but then they always stumble upon the realization that, ‘Oh, I have nowhere to wear it to.
— Mishala Lewis, Organizer

Event organizer Mishala Lewis owns online boutique shopmechee.com, which offers clothing to empower women in sizes small through 3x. While selling pieces at pop-up events, she noticed customers saying the same things.

“People love to shop for something that will stand out, but then they always stumble upon the realization that, ‘Oh, I have nowhere to wear it to,’” Lewis said. “So Drinks and Drip is an opportunity for people that love fashion to socialize with other people that love fashion and put on those outfits they don't really get to wear.”

With that in mind, Lewis said attendees shouldn’t hold back when it comes to styling their all-white attire. Aside from food, drinks, and music, attendees can enjoy shopping from local vendors and networking with the community.

“It’s not only a celebration of fashion and style, but it's going to be a great event for people that are influencers in Omaha, looking to develop their platform,” she said.

Lewis is no stranger to uplifting the community. MECHEE has hosted pop-up markets featuring dozens of small businesses and events focused on empowering others to be change makers.

Events like Drinks and Drip and the business model behind MECHEE all stem from Lewis’s desire to be a champion and help people feel beautiful. She said it stems from a life-altering event when she was in college. A car accident left her with scars on her head, wrist, and hips.

“It really challenged my sense of beauty,” she said. “Having the opportunity to create a business and having the management skills that I do, I created a platform where I can start to combat my challenges of beauty and include key elements such as diversity, equity, access, and inclusion into the retail space.”
