Hiya’s Gone Global! Alejandra Wells Becomes Scholastic Magazine Cover Girl
Story by Xitlally Velasco
Hiya takes the global stage once again! We’re proud to congratulate our client, Alejandra Wells, for being selected as Scholastic Action Magazine’s February cover girl. Scholastic Action Magazine uplifts readers in grades 6–12 with age-appropriate stories designed to inspire and empower them.
"Receiving national recognition means that Hiya's impact is truly being seen. It's helping people, from its background and bracelets to its advocacy, and I can't wait to see it help even more,” said Alejandra, founder and CEO of Hiya.
Alejandra’s Scholastic magazine featured her true story of overcoming anxiety and depression. Hiya unintentionally blossomed when Alejandra started making bracelets as a coping mechanism. She wore dozens of them to school, which sparked the interest of other students, and Alejandra began handing them out as a message of kindness and hope.
Hiya is a jewelry line that promotes self-care and mental health awareness. With its “Buy One, Give One” model, Hiya aims to support teens directly and raise awareness of mental health issues through innovative peer-led initiatives such as workshops, group activities, teen talks, and poster campaigns.
Because of Alejandra’s courage and commitment to mental health awareness, Scholastic Action Magazine reached out to her to continue to inspire others who may be going through similar events.
“I was completely shocked when I found out,” said Alejandra. “My mom told me after I came home from a game, and I couldn’t believe it. I’ve always loved Scholastic, their books, and their magazines—so being selected to be featured in one is mind-blowing.”
