Free Zoo Trip with Library Card, Gardening Workshop, Joslyn Reading Party & More
Story by Xitlally Velasco
The Omaha Public Library is keeping the community entertained with a calendar full of fun activities and events.
Free Zoo Tickets
Thanks to the Omaha Public Library (OPL), you can take advantage of the (unusual) warm Omaha weather and take a free trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo. Starting on Feb. 1, adults 18 years and older who are Douglas County residents or have a non-resident paid membership to OPL can check out tickets. Due to high demand and limited supply, only one ticket will be issued per library card.
Gardening Workshop
As spring slowly approaches, now is the time to start prepping your home garden. Spend time at your local library and learn how to care for, plant, and propagate herbs from an Omaha Master Gardener. Participants will be given a pot, soil, and herb seeds to take home. This is a free event for adults 19 years and older.
Out and About Reading Party at The Joslyn
OPL invites you to Joslyn’s Fountain Court on the second Thursday of the month for an hour of silent reading with other community members. Bring any piece of literature you’re into right now and join the non-traditional book club. Entry to the Joslyn is free.
Bridgerton Social
Dearest gentle reader, The OPL cordially invites you to attend Bridgerton Social on Friday, Feb. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Library Administration Building. Inspired by the Bridgerton book series by Julia Quinn, the Regency-era social invites guests to come in their best Bridgeton attire. Mingle while sipping signature cocktails and mocktails, have snacks, play parlor games, arrange flowers, write letters, and dance all night long.
