Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League Raises $1,150 at Bike Walk Give Fundraiser

The Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League (NICL), an EPIC for Girls program partner, hosted its “Bike Walk Give Fundraiser” on March 12 at Wine 121, where it raised $1,150 toward its scholarship fund.

The fundraiser was created to support both NICL and Bike Collab, a newly launched non-profit organization in Nebraska centered around after-school and community bike programming. Attendees were welcomed with drinks, appetizers, and a chance to win raffle prizes.

“We are blown away by the support we received from the Omaha community!” said Breanna Campbell, league director of NICL. “Last year, we awarded just under $7,000 in scholarships to student-athletes and coaches who would not have otherwise been able to participate in our league.”

Every donation toward an NICL scholarship goes directly towards eliminating all barriers so kids can experience the freedom of two wheels, said Campbell. Bikes have a significant impact on a youth’s fitness and mental health, and NICL believes everyone should be able to participate in its programs and feel welcomed, respected, and supported.

“We have never had to say no to an athlete or coach in need, and we never intend to,” said Campbell.

To help more kids experience the joy of cycling, NICL relies on the community's generosity. If you’d like to contribute to the NICL scholarship fund and help more young riders hit the trails, visit nebraskamtb.org to donate today.
