Racquel Henderson Named EPIC for Girls’ New Director of Programs and Strategic Partnerships
Please join us in welcoming Racquel Henderson as our client EPIC for Girls’ new director of programs and strategic partnerships!
Racquel, a proud North Omaha native, has spent over 10 years passionately advocating for her community through education, employment, and reentry programs. She has served on the boards of I Be Black Girl, NOISE, and YouTurn, bringing her wealth of experience and deep commitment to uplifting youth and providing second chances.
Previously, as the Pathway Coordinator for the Walter Scott Jr. Career Pathway Scholarship at Metropolitan Community College, Racquel focused on retaining first-generation and underrepresented students by providing intrusive academic support and guidance on the way to Career Placement. Additionally, she serves as the Employment and Education Coordinator for Black and Pink — the nation’s largest prison abolitionist organization. Additionally, Racquel is a professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she instructs a course centered on race, ethnicity, and the criminal justice system.
Racquel collaborates with the Terraluna Collaborative on the Lived Experience Project, supporting youth and families impacted by the juvenile justice system by providing resources and workshops focused on healing and amplifying their voices and stories. She also serves as a Consultant for the Community Wellness Collaborative, where she mentors and develops employment skills for young adults in the Health Care Collaborative Academy.
Racquel’s leadership and vision will be instrumental in driving EPIC for Girls forward as we continue our mission to create equitable opportunities for BIPOC girls in sports, said Kimberly Thomas, executive director of EPIC for Girls.
