From Hobby to Hot Demand: How Reyna’s Cakery Became a Go-To for Sweet Creations
Story by Xitlally Velasco
What began as a hobby during the global pandemic has grown into a thriving business with a packed schedule. Reyna’s Cakery, run by Yesenia Reyna, completes the sweet spot for any occasion. Reyna’s intricate piping skills, assorted cake and filling flavors, and warm hospitality keep her clients returning for more.
“What I thought was a hobby actually turned out to be something I became passionate about, and I enjoy expressing my creativity within my cakes,” said Reyna.
Business owners of all sizes tend to have the same fear at the jumpstart: no prospects. Connections take time, and rather than facing defeat, Reyna took the initiative to build her clientele. She promoted her business as much as possible while having sales to encourage people to try her items.
Reyna’s Cakery's most significant return on investment isn’t money but the satisfaction of knowing that people chose her to be part of their special event. She said that hearing feedback from clients and knowing their guests enjoyed it as much as she enjoyed creating their idea into a cake has been rewarding.
“My clients have impacted my journey tremendously. I appreciate each and every one of them who have booked with me and continue to book with me since I started,” Reyna said.
For a limited time, Reyna’s Cakery is offering a Valentine’s Day sale: a 4-inch heart cake in vanilla, strawberry, chocolate/Oreo chocolate, red velvet, or mocha flavor, along with a personalized photo.
