Story by Josefina Loza
As someone who thrives on a fast-paced schedule, I rarely get a moment to pause, breathe, and truly indulge in self-care. But recently, I had the pleasure of stepping away from my busy Lozafina day and treating myself to a rejuvenating experience at The Only Facial, Omaha’s newest self-care sanctuary located at 1020 S. 74th Plaza.
And let me tell you, it was nothing short of phenomenal.
From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in the dreamy aesthetics of this pink, cutesy spa. The decor, curated from local, female-owned businesses, created an ambiance that felt both sophisticated and playful. The pink storefront, adorned with a custom painting by Sara Huse of Good Bear Creative, set the tone for an experience that made me feel like I had stepped into a Barbie dream world - glamorous, pampered, and radiant.
The Only Facial is the latest addition to the St. Louis-based franchise’s expanding footprint in the Midwest. However, despite its franchise roots, this location embodies Nebraska-nice hospitality, thanks to Omaha husband-and-wife owners Skip and Katy Joyce. The duo has masterfully blended high-quality skincare services with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes every guest feel at home.
“We wanted to create a space where people could enjoy a luxurious experience without feeling pressured,” Skip Joyce shared in a recent Omaha World-Herald story. With his MBA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Katy’s marketing expertise, they’ve built a business that is equal parts relaxation and results-driven skincare.
Unlike traditional spas that upsell services or push products at checkout, The Only Facial offers a frictionless experience - no tipping, no add-ons, no pressure. The 60-minute treatment is a comprehensive, all-inclusive facial featuring 11 steps, including dermaplaning, LED light therapy, and microdermabrasion.
From the moment I laid back in the plush facial bed, I felt a wave of relaxation wash over me. The esthetician, Josephine, was an absolute gem. She walked me through each step of the process, ensuring I was comfortable and informed. She tailored my experience to my skin’s needs and even sent me home with complimentary moisturizer samples specifically suited for my skin type. That extra touch of care made all the difference. I left after the dermaplaning feeling like baby skin - smooth, soft, and completely renewed.
Beyond skincare, what makes The Only Facial stand out is its commitment to supporting local businesses. Every detail of the spa, from the lush plants sourced from The Green House in Little Bohemia to the handpicked vases from Of the Earth Floral Design and The Preppy Bunny, adds a local, heartfelt charm to the space.
“We wanted the spa to reflect the beauty and creativity of Omaha’s small business community,” Katy Joyce explained. “It’s our way of bringing together skincare, self-care, and local love.”
Walking out of The Only Facial, my skin was glowing, my mind was at ease, and my spirit felt recharged. Literally, recharged. Josephine also does Reiki-Chakra work, a combination of the Japanese healing technique Reiki and the concept of chakras in which your energy is rebalanced in the body. I didn’t anticipate this bonus service but loved every minute of it.
Whether you're a skincare aficionado or a first-time facial client, The Only Facial delivers a no-fuss, high-quality service that leaves you feeling your absolute best.
For anyone looking to escape the hustle, embrace a little luxury, and support a business that champions both self-care and community, The Only Facial is a must-visit.
After all, who doesn’t deserve a little Barbie-gorgeous glow?
