Join Film Streams as it hosts an evening of discussion on the child care crisis, which is being felt locally, and across the nation.
The evening begins with a screening of Clarissa’s Battle. The focus of the film is Clarrisa, a single Black mother from Oakland, California. Her experience growing up, first as an unhoused infant, sparked a lifelong desire to advocate for childcare and preschool as a basic human right.
After the film hear from local panelists about the critical issues surrounding childcare, early childhood education, and available family with support.
Panelists include:
Moderator Ilissa Talkington, parent ambassador program manager for Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative
Omaha District 10 Senator Wendy DeBoer
Makaela Clemons, parent ambassador for the Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative
Ana Yumul, owner of Bella’s Daycare
