Two Omaha Dance Teams Receive Golden Ticket to Championships in California

By: Xitlally Velasco

Omaha’s I Heartbeat Dance Competition Team and The Paradigm Dance Complex recently participated in the World of Dance Audition Series last Sunday. They showcased their skills and impressed world-class judges, who ultimately gave both dance teams a golden ticket to the championship series, the most prestigious week of dance alongside the best dance crews in the world.

The I Heartbeat Dance Team is the only majorette team in Omaha and is audition-based only. The team strives for excellence and has proved they’re not any ordinary dance team from the Midwest. In just one year, they’ve ranked top three in every competition in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri and Nebraska. They’re also a sports partner of Epic for Girls, an organization that researches, advocates for, and funds innovative solutions that address inequities in sports for girls of color.

The Paradigm Dance Complex is a dance studio focused solely on competition. Their goal is to train their dancers to pursue dance careers after their time with them. They’re a safe space for dancers to follow their passion, learn to work as a team and build trust within themselves and others.

The World of Dance Championship Series is a globally renowned dance competition featuring the best dance crews from over 30 countries and millions of spectators. The World of Dance holds an awards ceremony after each division where they will crown only three winners per region.

The I Heartbeat Dance team and The Paradigm Dance Complex will be heading to the Anaheim Convention Center in August to defend their title as regional champions and bring home the trophy. The Lozafina team congratulates both crews for their amazing accomplishment from their hard work and dedication. We wish them the best of luck, and we’ll be cheering them on from home.
