1. Giving God all the Praise and Glory.
Before my feet hit the floor each morning, I’m grateful for the gift of another day. Regardless of the weather, He has given me breath and the chance to make these 24 hours better than the last, and for that, I give Him all the glory. I am who I am today because of the man He’s shaped me to be. I smile every day, knowing it could be the last smile He grants me, and that fills my heart with gratitude.
2. My Family and Kids.
My kids are my greatest blessing. Not a day goes by that I’m not deeply grateful for the time I get to spend with them. Being present in their lives has always been my top priority, and it’s something I truly cherish. The best parts of my life have been dedicated to being the best father I can be. It’s not about awards or recognition—it’s about creating lasting memories and ensuring my children know how much they’re loved and valued. One of God’s greatest blessings was giving me the opportunity to take my kids to school every day. Until recently, when my oldest son started driving, I rarely missed a single drop-off or pick-up. I can count on one hand how many times I wasn’t there. For that, I can’t thank God enough.
3. Vacationing.
Vacationing has to be one of my greatest joys. We’ve been blessed with a property in North Carolina, and each year we make time to return and enjoy the peaceful countryside. Spending a few weeks relaxing, laughing with family and friends, and indulging in muscadines at a festival or two is truly special. The Carolina beaches are another highlight. Whether it’s Wilmington or Oak Island, there’s so much to love—though I have to say, in my opinion, the sand at Oak Island is unmatched. And, of course, no trip to Wilmington is complete without a stop at the famous Britt’s Donuts. Every visit is nothing short of amazing.
4. The Gym.
The gym is my true joy. I have memberships at several locations, and it’s something I genuinely love doing. Most people don’t know this, but years ago, when I was much younger, I lost an aunt who meant a lot to me. Her passing devastated me, and during that time, I sought a space where I could be alone. The gym became that place—a sanctuary where I could express my true emotions without having to talk. The only conversation came from the clanging of steel hitting steel, when I would alway say ‘real Alabama steel.’ Though I still reflect on those days, my relationship with the gym has evolved. Now, as a more seasoned individual, I go not just for a good muscle pump but also to connect with my gym community. It’s become another happy place for me—a source of both strength and camaraderie.
5. My Siblings.
My siblings, who I proudly call my best friends, are such a blessing. There are four of us—two boys and two girls—and we talk daily. They’re truly a breath of fresh air, and we can discuss anything and everything. Every time we see each other, it feels like the first time, filled with joy and excitement. I genuinely believe that when God created my parents, He was just showing off with us. Am I boastful? Absolutely! 🤣 But in all seriousness, my siblings even call and talk to my kids for hours, and it feels completely natural. Even though we’re 1,000 miles apart, technology makes it feel like we’re always connected. I’ll leave you with this: I always tell them, “You glow differently when you have good people with good intentions in your life.”
